A New Method to Combine Coastal Sea Surface Height Estimates from Multiple Retrackers by Using the Dijkstra Algorithm

To increase data availability and accuracy in the coastal zone, especially last 5 km to coast, we present a SCMR (Seamless Combination of Multiple Retrackers) processing strategy combine sea surface height (SSH) estimates from waveform retrackers SGDR MLE4, ALES, WLS3 MB4 for Jason-3 Saral missions, SAMOSA SAMOSA+ Sentinel-3A mission Australian zone. The does not require classification result. It includes two steps: (1) estimating removing SSH bias due mainly significant wave (SWH) difference-dependent differences, (2) determining optimal along-track profile by using Dijkstra algorithm. In study region, results show that increases up 15% coast reduces noise level 28–34% at spatial scales < 2.5 km. validation against tide gauges SCMR-derived achieve better than any single retracker, with improvement percentage 6.26% 4.94% over 0–10 20–100 distance bands, respectively.
